May 31, 2018, 1:35pm Most of your life is out of your control. Even if you are strategic with your life’s path and career journey, you can’t control the impact other people have on how you navigate through it. Don’t waste your energy trying to attempt to control the world around you. Instead, spend your precious time harnessing the only thing you have the ability to impact — you. Regardless of where you seek success, the only way to fully reach it is to start from within and shift your perspective. The tips below can help you do just that. Adjust your story Think about the conversations that go through your mind during a meeting? Instead of focusing on the content, you converse with your inner self, judging your co-worker’s attire, questioning a company policy or brainstorming your to-do list. Without ever parting your lips, you are writing a story — both about others and about yourself. The story starts when you look in the mirror in the morning. It continues when you prep for a meeting and after you conclude it. It doesn’t stop when family demands show up at home. The inner conversations you have during these situations are important because the story you tell yourself is just as significant as the story that actually happens. Finding true fulfillment isn’t possible unless you start by making a pact with yourself that the story you write within is one that focuses on your strengths and is built on self-affirmation. Because if you don’t believe in yourself, who will? Make the choice Every moment of your life — from when you wake up in the morning to when you go to bed each night — you have a choice, and what you do with this choice has the capacity to change your life. You are given the choice to determine how you are going to respond to the cards life deals you. Daily you are guaranteed to face disappointment, but it’s in these moments where you choose whether to be a victim or an opportunist. You can’t be filled with gratitude if you are hung up with a bad attitude. You will never see the rainbow if you are living under a cloud. You attract what you put out, and if you are putting out negative energy, positivity has nowhere to take root. While you can’t control what happens in life, you can control how you respond to it. This choice isn’t easy, but when you choose to see life happen for you, you see windows open when doors shut. Choose to shift your perspective — to see the good and to be the good. For when you do, not only will you find fulfillment in new ways at work and at home, you will find peace from within. Passion. Purpose. Perspective. Influence. You were never meant to just go through the motions. While the motions of life get you from place to place, they were never promised to get you to your end destination fulfilled. Motions weren’t meant to be fueled by responsibilities. They were meant to get energy from passion. If you can harness what you are passionate about, you will find embedded within it your life’s purpose. Understanding this will help you identify actions that will help you achieve it and those that don’t. If you are brave, you will shift your perspective to only allow experiences, interactions and comments from others to fuel your purpose. If your purpose drives you, it will be evident. Think about the people that you enjoy most in your life. Think about your interactions at work — your mentors and your respected leaders. You are likely drawn to those you enjoy engaging with. These people, while encompassing various traits, most likely are passion-fueled and perspective-driven. Because when you harness both, influence follows. When you are someone of influence, you have the ability to affect another in some way. Whether you influence a behavior or their character, you are making a difference, and that is where fulfillment lies. Success is within reach but without shifting perspective, you may reach it without finding true fulfillment. But if you do, you will find yourself enriched in more ways than you ever dreamed feasible. — Stephanie Feger is founder of Louisville-based business Color Today Pretty, a professional speaker and author of the book “Color Today Pretty: An Inspirational Guide to Living a Life in Perspective.” Reach her at colortodaypretty@gmail.com or ColorTodayPretty.com.

A good friend of mine, who enjoys visiting new breweries, is in town and I wanted to send her a link with all of the breweries in Louisville to pick one. Only I couldn’t find a list of all the breweries in Louisville. The closest list I could find hasn’t been updated in two years. So here is a list of all of the breweries in Louisville!
Comment below and tell us which is your favorite! Interested in a list of breweries for all of Kentucky? Download the app Drink KY. Once a month, we have an event at a local brewery or distillery that benefits a non profit. Sometimes we do a tour or tasting, sometimes we have a guest speaker. Not all of the events are the same. Our Master It Slime Class is a fun, family/kid friendly class where participants learn how to create their own slime! Similar to putty and Gak (90’s kids should remember this from our childhood), Slime is pliable substance that can be shaped into fun designs. Participants tend to be families with children of all ages that get to do something different while meeting other families and kids. This class was unique in that we had Ava Hawkins (12 years old) teaching other kids how to make slime in which they can take home. Nothing is required from participants except to be prepared to have a fun time! Watch your son's or daughter’s face when they create a colorful piece of slime they can take home and play with. Ava teaches the participants about the material needed, different surfaces, and supplies for the transfer. Then she leads the participants through the process of transferring their photo to a new surface. Each participant gets a small photo to practice on while their photo settles. Be on the look out for more slime and kid/family friendly classes coming soon! Beer History
Louisville now has 15 breweries with more scheduled to open in 2018. If you count southern Indiana and Oldham county, the number is well over 20. I love trying new breweries and supporting local businesses and I’ve been to all of the breweries in Louisville, southern Indiana, and Lexington. But I didn’t know much about the history of beer in Louisville until I read Louisville Beer by Kevin Gibson. We were fortunate to have Kevin speak at an event this summer. He covered a few of the topics in his book including: - The Importance of Beer - The German Influx - Prohibition - Rise of Breweries - New Breweries in Louisville We are excited to announce that Kevin has joined up with us again for another event on January 25 at 3rd Turn Brewery. Not only will we have a Louisville writer at a Louisville brewery speaking about the beer history in Louisville, the event also supports a Louisville non profit, Active Heroes! We hope you will be able to join us. What is Photo Transfer?
In the photo transfer class, participants learn how to transfer a photo to a new surface. Many of the participants brought a loved, family photo to turn in to a memorable keepsake. Participants can also select from an array of provided photos from the instructor and photographer, Denise Greer. Requirements for the photo include: -High-resolution from a camera, smartphone or scanner (not a web photo) -Before printing, flip the image horizontally (Any writing will be reversed otherwise) -Printed on a laserjet printer (not inkjet) -Printed on regular copy paper (not photo paper) -Photos may be color or black and white Denise teaches the participants about the photo requirements, different surfaces, and supplies for the transfer. Then she leads the participants through the process of transferring their photo to a new surface. Each participant gets a small photo to practice on while their photo settles. Do you have a photo you’d like to transfer to a new surface? Stay tuned for an announcement about our second photo transfer class coming early 2018.
